weekend in Maio Island

we went to Maio Island for the weekend and I got sick so spent all of saturday like this. Good thing we stayed at a lovely bed and breakfast called casita verde (http://www.casita-verde.de/) so it was more tolerable (if one can consider being sick tolerable)

we went to the beach at the end of the day...i enjoyed the seabreeze but was still not quite myself

mama insisted on going to the salt marshes and she was almost turned into salt. she sank in knee deep and lost her slippers...also got covered in black sooth that burned her skin....uncle tony who is from maio said that if it was the rainy season (the one time mama was happy it barely rains in cabo verde!) she would have been swallowed...i did not know all of this but knew something was up and screamed as loud as i could (i have a lot of practice screaming so that was no problem). i am glad my mom survived the salt monster

it got hot...mama will tell you since she lost her flip flops at the marsh ....she was walking abrefoot in the heat ...yeah...cobble stones get hot in the mid day sun
